Mobile blogging using Android

I finally give in. After years of not using a handheld device, I got one 2 days ago

It’s an Android device, the Samsung Ace. Looks a lot like the iPhone 4.

It comes in 2 colors: black or white back cover. Yes there’s white, an elusive color for the iPhone.

Today the iPhone 4 will be available in Singapore and some other countries.

I did use the iPad for a day a couple of days back. Didn’t like it very much.

I have to crate an account with Apple and provide my credit card details. Can’t I just sign-up first, then when I’m comfortable, buy the apps later?

Unlike Android Market place, there is no need to provide any credit card details until you’re ready to buy. I prefer that kind of arrangement.

I realized that Apple products are more for consumption not really for creating of content.

iPad & iPhone have only one method of entering text; the basic QWERTY keyboard. Right now I’m entering the text using Swype.

It’s so much easier and after awhile you’ll get use to it. All I need to do is simply move my finger across the keypad.

It’s like the last handheld I used; the Sony Clie.

The installing of files and apps are so easy. For files like pdf and MP3, it’s a simple copy to the external SD card using Windows file manager. No need to fire up a dedicated software.

That’s my brief initial report on the Android. Later I’ll be writing more on the technical aspects of the OS as well as the phone and the apps that I find useful.
