I accidentally rediscovered something very obvious.
Stuff like Bitly works because any domain can do redirects. There’s nothing magical about it.
I own gazali.one, which means I control everything after the slash. So instead of sharing long URLs or juggling multiple domains, I just do this now:
gazali.one/journeyman→ journeymanjourneys.comgazali.one/work→ rightbusiness.com.sg
Functionally, it’s the same idea. Practically, it’s better for me.
I do keep one simple rule though. Most paths point to things I own or control. If it points elsewhere, it’s deliberate, not accidental.
Why this works for me:
- One domain to remember.
- No third-party dependency.
- No weird branding in my links.
- I can change where things point without changing what I’ve already shared.
It’s a small thing, but it makes my links cleaner and more future-proof.
Simple, obvious, and long overdue
